SOUTHERN FRIED MOBILE DISCO COMPETITION

Fancy yourself as a bit of a DJ? Want to be thrown in at the deep end by playing a set before Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Helden on 1st October at The Southern Fried Mobile Disco in Brighton?
This is your opportunity!
To enter, you just need to take these three simple steps…

STEP 1- Record a DJ Mix, it must be up to 5 Tracks (maximum 10 minutes), all trax must be Southern Fried Records releases.
STEP 2- Save the mix in a video format (see hint / advice for more info)
STEP 3- Create a Youtube account (it's easy!) Load up your mix listing the tracks you've used, then join the group .youtube.com/group/sfrmobiledisco and submit your mix.

Judgement:
We will select up to 10 finalists based mainly on which mixes receive the highest number of views and best ratings.
Those 10 finalists will then be scrutinized by a crack team of judging specialists that will include Norman Cook and other members of Team Southern Fried.
A winner and runners up will then be chosen and announced 10 days before the gig.

Any problems or questions, don't hesitate to email us on info@southernfriedrecords.com
If you're not sure how to convert your audio mix into a youtube allowed video file, don't fret… email us and we'll help you out.
If you wish you can include video footage or visuals with the mix but only the audio mix itself will be judged.

  1. great video by The Gentlemen Disc Jockey.Best mix to me is Dj TimDavies’s one( Luke Brackenridge sacond place ).best tunes from all sets presented here and good mixing.if the sound quality wasn’t bad i would even rip this set  .btw anyone will wrote down the tracklist? :-P

  2. I agree with borsuczy, there are some very good mixes, but Tim Davies and Luke Brakenridge have chosen the most diverse mix of Artists and Tunes with the smoothist mixing and within the rules (no more or no less than 5 records) I feel that to use samples from more than 5 records is not within the rules. Great mixes by all :-) . Good Luck everyone

  3. And finally:

    Congrats to d00rly!

  4. no need to be a bad loser!!!but Congrats to d00rly!.
i think southern fried records juges should go over the rules again.
5 records only wasn’t it.!!( how many did d00rly! use in hes mix). and not being juge on video’s just audio. the judges judge, the top ten people with the most views and ratting’s, whoopydoody wasn’t in the top ten.
would of been nice to of mention me aswell as Dub Munkey,Dj TimDavies,Zenit. i think we had the best tune sectection.

please Norman cook Fan’s don’t take this the wrong way!!
    what are your comments
    luke

  5. @ luke & all "un-winners"
For me, it’s a very frustrating results. d00rly made 2 videos/mix, i don’t know what mix they choose. In add, they mentionned MrBizness only for his sh*ty costum (sorry but its true)…
I don’t understand why they don’t explain more their choice and don’t write a word for each competitor cause you were not alot.
Personnaly, i voted for those who had made a various selection… and retained as you that you were noted on the audio and selection of 5 southern fried titles (and only 5).
Skint/Southern Fried competitions have always strange rules, i learned that when i tried to enter in the champion sound video competition LOL
I think that you should receive all some free tickets to see fatboy slim (it would be natural to thanks you for your participation).

    FND

PS: sorry again for my bad english, i think you will understand the whole.

  6. i think it’s unfair.
    all of the judging.

if it does not act, that only five songs, i can mixing minimum 30 track to 10 minutes.
sorry, but if i do, i won the big prize?
    shit.

d00rly’s mix was simply bad, i think, but is subjective.
i crossed my fingers for tim davies, and for myself, naturally, but i believe, d00rly get out in the first ring…

rules are rules, and yes, i agree with luke about everything what he wrote.
we can make shiny videos for our mixes, we don’t.
we can mixing more than 5 songs in 10 minutes, we don’t.
that’s unfair, i knew about the fact that I may not win, but these results it sadden.

congrats for d00rly, but i don’t happy with that.
    i can’t.
    sorry.

  7. Hi all, can’t tell you all how gutted i am, would have been a life time ambition to dj with fatboy slim, especially as his manager said he would never let me. However i do think Doorly’s mixes were brilliant (within the rules or not). Big thanks to everyone for your kind comments, especially Zenit and Luke. Bring on the next competion!!!! :-)
