  • 4 January – At least 1000 cars are snowed in on the E22 highway between Hörby and Kristianstad for a day with people spending the night in their vehicles. The Swedish Army intervenes in the situation, helping citizens get out of their vehicles and supplying them with basic amenities.[2]
  • 23 January – Turkey's Grand National Assembly approves Sweden's NATO membership bid.[3]
  • 12 February – One person is killed in a fire that destroys part of the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg.[4]
  • 20 February – Sweden donates its largest military aid package to Ukraine to date with a further $680 million in aid.[5]
  • 26 February – Hungary's parliament ratifies Sweden's bid to join NATO.[6]
  • 7 March - Sweden officially joins NATO, becoming the 32nd member of the military alliance.[7]
  • 17 April - The Riksdag votes 234-94 in favor of lowering the minimum age for citizens to legally change their gender from 18 years to 16.[8]
