Shout received starred reviews from Kirkus,[1] Booklist,[2] BookPage,[3] and Publishers Weekly,[4] as well as positive reviews from New York Times,[5] Los Angeles Times,[6] and Common Sense Media.[7] Kirkus,[1] School Library Journal,[8] Horn Book, NPR,[9] Chicago Public Library,[10] and Publishers Weekly[11] named it one of the best books of the year.[1] It's also a Junior Library Guild selection.[12] Kirkus Reviews stated the book was "necessary for every home, school, and public library."[1]
