Norman Cook confirms Glastonbury appearance to 6 Music

Norman-Cook-205-15013 Feb 08 – Speaking at the launch of his night at the O2 Wireless Festival in London this morning, Cook revealed that he would also be performing at Pilton Farm on 27 June.
“Oh yeah, i’m doing it again this year in some guise.” He explained, “I think I’m actually official this year, last I wasn’ actually on the bill, but I still managed to play three times.
“This year I think I’m officially on the bill on Friday night, but I think I’ve played Glastonbury eleven years running now.”
He went on to say that the Glastonbury festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, almost see him a regular feature of the event. Saying: “They’re just like, “You’re part of the furniture. Even if you’re not on the bill, just come down and we’ll find a spot for you, whether it’s Africa Express or Lost Vagueness’.”
As for his Wireless show, Cook is looking to recreate the party vibe of his legendary Brighton beach shows in Hyde Park.
“Hopefully we’ll kind of engender the Brighton spirit. It’s a bit daunting as its not on a beach, with no pebbles to be seen, but hopefully we’ll get the same kind of atmosphere that we get in Brighton. I think it”ll work.”

Fatboy Slim is headlining the O2 Wireless Festival on Saturday 5 July in Hyde Park London, on a bill that includes Underworld, Bootsy Collins and Mark Ronson.

To hear more from Norman Cook and a Wireless Festival report listen to The Music Week on 6 Music form 1pm-2pm on Sunday 17 February.
